Join us at Gnome Games Appleton East for our Learn to Play Magic the Gathering event!

Don’t know how to play Magic the Gathering? You’re in the right place! From 6 to 9 PM, stop in and purchase two Jumpstart Boosters to shuffle into a deck, and one of our very own staff members will teach you! Just for participating, you receive a special Welcome Deck. These decks keep newer players in mind and emphasize easy to read and understandable mechanics.

Our entry for this event is the purchase of two Jumpstart Booster Packs! Otherwise, no experience needed. This event aims solely at teaching you how to play Magic the Gathering!

Players must have a Wizards account and enter into our event to qualify for a Welcome Deck. Don’t have one? Sign up here! Kids under 16 can register as guests.

Magic is a collectible trading card game of fun-filled, strategic games to play with friends old and new. Welcoming worldbuilders, narrative lovers, and gameplay enthusiasts alike, Magic has something for everyone and countless ways to play. Each of the five colors in Magic represent a different philosophy and a different playstyle. Choose your color(s) to decide which type of land you’ll be drawing resources (mana) from and what type of Magic you’ll wield. Learn to Play with the Gnomes: Chicken Challengers

Learn to Play Catan with Gnome Games! Wednesday, May 13th at 7pm, one of the Gnomes will be helping players learn to play the quick and fun card game Chicken Challengers!

This is a Free event! Seating is limited, but we’re looking to help introduce more players to great games every Wednesday during our weekly Board Game Night!

We’ll go over the basics of the game and then jump into playing the game with the Gnome community!

Play The Designers! Popes & Plagues!

We’re incredibly excited to not only host fun Learn-to-Play events for this new game, but also to welcome one of its creators in person to help teach!

The Creators

Tray and Jennifer Green are the creative minds behind this fantastic new game, and Tray himself will be joining us to teach it! The Green family has a long-standing passion for CCGs, tabletop games, and roleplaying games—something they’ve enjoyed together for years.

They’ve channeled that shared passion into designing games of their own, driven by the belief that “families that game together, stay together.” Their love for innovative mechanics and engaging design shines through in their work, resulting in experiences that are fun, unique, and built to bring people together.

Creator

You may recognize the name Plague & Pestilence, a medieval-themed game originally created by Tray Green in 1993. If you’ve had the chance to play it, you’ll notice its strong influence on their newest title, Popes & Plagues. The Greens have shared that, throughout development, they worked to stay true to the spirit of the original while introducing updated mechanics and a fresh, new design.

Popes & Plagues

Popes & Plagues is a fast-paced card game set in the Middle Ages, filled with strategy, chaos, and a touch of dark humor. This is not just a reprint—it’s a full recreation. Plague & Pestilence

Learn to Play: Pirates of the High Teas at Gnome Games Green Bay East

Ahoy, mateys! It’s time to sail the seven seas with Pirates of the High Teas!

Gnome Games Green Bay East invites you to join us to learn how to play Pirates of the High Teas!

Saturday, April 25th at 11:00am

Compete against your fellow pirates in this whimsical set collection game perfect for 1-4 players ages 10 and up. Collect and match dishes with tea cards to prepare the perfect meal for the Captain and win their favor. Play carefully and strategically to best use your actions, but don’t forget – you are a pirate and pirates love breaking rules! Smash dishes together, blow up cards with your cannon, send monkeys off to steal cards, or deploy parrots to smuggle cards to the Captain! Count up your doubloons at the end of 9 rounds, and the pirate with the most treasure at the end is the winner.

Join us for this special learn to play event, and a friendly Gnome will show you how to play!

About Of Popes and Plagues:

“A fast-paced card game of Popes, Plagues, & Pestilence set in the Middle-Ages! Make war on your enemies, lead a Holy Crusade, but above all else, prepare for the coming of the Plague! You’ll building up your village and population and then fighting to outlast your opponents once the plague breaks out… he who dies last wins.
