Join the Gnomes at Gnome Games Green Bay West for the Prerelease fun with the newest set from Pokemon: Pitch Black!

Take part in a Pokémon Prerelease for Pitch Black! Crack open a Build & Battle kit, craft a deck, and see how you do in a 3 round Swiss style tournament! All participants get 3 packs of Pitch Black at the end for playing in the 3 rounds! Players have 30 minutes to build their decks. Rounds are 30 minutes, best of one.
Entry is $40. Take a peek at the Pokémon Event Locator for more event details! Players must have a Play! Pokémon ID. Don’t have one? We can help set you up with one in-store! Registration can be completed at your convenience. You can also register on pokemon.com!

What is Prerelease?
A prerelease is a type of event that gives players the chance to get product early. In the case of Pokémon, people can participate in events before the set comes out. Each person receives a Build & Battle kit, which consists of a random 40 card deck and 4 packs of the set. Then they battle it out in 3 rounds of a Swiss style Tournament and receive extra packs at the end for participating! Players get to keep all of the cards that they get from prereleases.
The Prerelease format allows players to compete using a 40-card deck with four Prize cards set aside at the start of play. This is different from the usual 60-card deck with six Prize cards. Due to the limited card pool and the variance of cards that can be acquired in a Build & Battle Box, Prerelease events are also a great opportunity to flex your creative deck-building muscles.

Classified Escalation League
Attention Warhammer 40k fans! Gnome Games is running an Escalation League this summer at a number of Gnome Games Locations!
An Escalation League is a gradually growing series of events that asks each player to bring their assembly, painting, tactics and skill to the forefront! Leagues will involve a multitude of methods of gaining points each week; with weekly winners and it will all culminate in a grand bash at the end!
More details will be forthcoming as we approach the dates of the Escalation League itself, but here’s a rough guide.
Escalation Leagues focus on helping players put together an army over a series of weeks. No finished models completed before June 20th, 2026 are eligible to help you win points during the league.
- Saturday, June 20th – Initial Enlistment within the League. New players can join each week, but Enlistment on the first day of the League will come with the first chances to earn points! League members will gather, assemble, paint and learn more details of the league in person!
- June 21st – June 27th – Assemble 500 points of models, paint 250 points of models. First skirmishes at the store! 500 points skirmish.
- June 28th – July 4th – Assemble 250 points of models. Paint 250 points of models, Provide some lore/backstory for your army. Second round of skirmishes at the store. Win a 500 point skirmish!
- July 5th – July 11th – Assemble 250 points of models, Paint 250 points of models. 750 point skirmish! Declare a nemesis faction as part of army’s lore.
- July 12th – July 18th – Assemble 250 points of models. Paint 250 points of models. Name a leader for your army. 1st 1000 point skirmish.
- July 19th – July 25th – Assemble 250 points of models, Paint 250 points of models. Win a 1000 point skirmish! Have best painted model.
- July 26th – August 2nd – Assemble 250 points of models. Paint 250 points of models. 1500 point battle!
- August 2nd – August 7th – Prepare for the Final battle at Gnome Games Appleton East! 250 points of Models Assembly (if not yet done), 500 points of painting. 2000 point army! Completion provides during the League provides an initiative reroll for your first skirmish at the Final Battle!
The Leagues Converge and the battle for supremacy is on August 8th at Gnome Games Appleton East!
